Ladies 2nds win secures 4th in the league

Swans Ladies 2nds 3-1 win over Andover at the weekend ensures they finish in the top four at the end of the season.

Ladies (II) 3 - 1 Andover (III)

On Saturday Swans Ladies 2s played their final match of the season against Andover 3rds who had previously beaten them 5-0 . It was clear from the start that the teams were well matched but after 20 minutes Liz Solomon took on the goalkeeper to open the scoring.

The home team settled into the match and just before half time youngster, Maddie Cranfield, passed to Solomon with precision, resulting in a second goal for Solomon. This gives her a final goal tally of 17 for her first season, not a bad start!

Much against the run of play, Andover scored from a short corner, leaving the match on tenterhooks. Swans strengthened their back lines, protecting their lead. In the last few minutes of the match, Andover conceded a short corner which was expertly converted by Pam Laidman, giving Swans a 3-1 win at full time. This now guarantees them 4th in the Forest 2 Division of the South Central League.

Captain, Yaz Unsworth, said after the match "I just want to say how proud I am of every single one of my players this season, they’ve all been incredible. This is the highest the team has ever achieved in our league and it's very well deserved".

Now all that's left to do is team brunch next Saturday!!!
